ABOUT
THE AUTHOR
Benjamin Polis decided to write about his struggle and
subsequent triumph over severe Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder at the tender age of 19. He
quickly became a Best Selling Author at age 20 in his
native country of Australia. Now 23 years old, Ben is
currently on a Publicity and Speaking Tour of the USA.
He currently resides in New York City.
Ben
Polis is the kid who was always meant to fail! He went
to six schools, failed many grades. He couldn’t read
constructed sentences until he was 15 years old and
found himself continually in trouble with the law. Used
Drugs! Saw many child psychiatrists and physically
assaulted his parents and other members of society as a
result of his condition.
So
how did the kid who was meant to fail turn it all
around, get into University and write an Internationally
Published Book?
Ben
always believed that he could achieve what ever he put
his mind to but always failed as a result of poor
concentration and erratic and violent behavior.
At
17 years old and at his 6th school he took a good hard
look at himself and decided to change his life. By
implementing self taught behavioral and learning
techniques he passed his final school year with
excellent results and was accepted into one of
Australia’s Elite Business Universities.
Why
Ben Polis decided to write ‘Only A Mother Could Love
Him?’
When
19 years old Ben was watching a segment on Attention
Deficit Disorder on a national televised a current
affairs program in Australia. He became angry when a so
called expert was explaining why ADD/ADHD children do
things and how they feel. Ben thought to himself ‘I
don’t feel that way and I certainly don’t do things for
the reasons explained by the so called expert.’ He
thought to himself there must be a book written by a
young person on ADD/ADHD explaining why ADD/ADHD
children act and react in the way they do. He searched
the internet. To his surprise he couldn’t fine such a
book. After two months sitting obsessively in front of
his computer ‘Only A Mother Could Love Him’ was
finished.
Ben
says now that if it wasn’t for his impulsive behavior as
a result of his ADHD ‘Only A Mother Could Love Him’
would never have been written.
